Audra Herman, Canon City High School student, was named the recipient of the 2013 Zonta Club of the Royal Gorge Region Young Women in Public Affairs Award.
The goal of the Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman’s (age 16-19) commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.
Ms. Audra Herman was named Zonta Club of the Royal Gorge Region Young Women in Public Affairs recipient because of her school leadership and local volunteer work. Ms. Herman intends to pursue herr education in political science. Audra believes it is important to reach out to girls and women in the community to help raise their status in society.
